Strutting My Stuff

Great news from my stable – Boss Lady has been letting me strut my stuff up the gallops! I have been getting to grips with the idea of actually working *NEIGH* and have gradually built up to proper work.  My lovely lass Beth has been looking after me but did have to tell me off this week as I have been learning how to buck!!! (My next door neighbour Sendinpost gave me the idea *NEIGH*!)

There are lots of new pictures of me as the gang came to see me this week (click on over to Aramstone Pix, and go to “Aramstone May 2012″) – please forgive a few of the pictures being out of focus – I am not known for keeping still!!!

I also want to tell you about my older brother Quickbeam who this month has made his Riding Club debut in the super-safe hands of Beth Eckley! Word is he behaved himself and performed admirably! Way to go Big Brother!!!

Niceonefrankie has gone off for his well-earned break already so we wont be seeing him for awhile.  And I apparently have now done enough for this Season and will now be given a couple of months off myself *YEIGH* so for now, this is Torgamah Lad saying adios!

What A Day!

Well, what a day!  We all got there nice and early to savour the flavour and soak up the atmosphere.  It was a bit cold and grey across Prestbury Park and it would have been a lot nicer had the sun shone.  They had watered the course overnight and unfortunately without the sun shining down to take out that top layer of moisture, the ground wasn’t ideal for us.

Nevertheless, as the hours ticked round and Big Bucks made history in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle, Frankie was being a good fella, all nice and quietly being saddled and prepared by Igor.  And then, we were up in the parade ring – along with armies of others – all trying to look nonchalant yet hopeful, like this sort of thing happens every day!!! And suddenly there was Aidan being given the leg up and off they went!

Well, to be honest, Frankie was never travelling a yard.  He was crowded from the start, never got into a rhythm with his jumping and, I think its safe to say, didnt enjoy the experience.  However, having said that, he did jump round – to his great credit – there has to have been at least three fences where he couldn’t even SEE the fence before he was jumping over it – and he did “nibble the turf” on a couple of occasions.  But he did get round! and finished a gallant 11th out of 22.

The experience will be vital should he be lucky enough to go the Festival in the future, and we had a fantastic day being part of his support crew!

Thank you and Well Done Frankie!

The Big Day Dawns

Well, now its finally here, and it’s a little scary!  Having dreamt of having a runner at the Festival for years, we are finally going and the nerves are REAL!

And the race doesn’t go until 4 o’clock! – This could be a very long day!!!!

Please let Frankie have a good run, let both horse and jockey come back safe, and, if we could just have a little bit of luck, may they do well.

See you on the other side…
